A simple google search will bring up more websites than Huichol. The true art however, is very difficult to find. It does not come from Huichol that live in the city, but rather those who actually live in the sierra, those who are involved in doing the ceremonies and rituals that make up what it means to be Huichol. Mayola Villa Lopez is the granddaughter of Jacinto Lopez Ramirez. He was an older Huichol shaman, considered to be the grandfather of the commercial bead art.
This beaded jaguar measures 6″ tall, 17″ wide, and 5.5″ deep.
